Tony D's is a fantastic Italian restaurant with a wonderful bar area and a very friendly staff, located just over the ICW, just north of Oakland Park Blvd. Its a great location with easy parking (bring a few quarters for the meter). Tony D's original store is located in Rochester, NY. They opened this store with Co-Owners - Chef Jay Speranza and Head Chef Sean Kelley. Scott Niskar is the General Manager who all pay close attention to details and customer satisfaction. They opened this, its 2nd store in November bringing classic, quality NY style Italian flair at reasonable prices. The restaurant is an open-air ambiance with dark wood accents, a mural of the owners' parents playing boccie in Italy and river rocks fronting the bar and 17-seat chef's counter overlooking the marble-walled open kitchen. Soft music flows throughout.Dinner is served nightly along with a great Happy Hour menu from 5PM-7PM. We had the pleasure of sampling a wide variety of menu items - 1st at the bar, their chicken wings, served crisp from the oven with light italian seasoning with carmalized onions, a meal in itself.
The Meatball Al Forno, was just like mama used to make. Beef, pork and veal meatballs covered in marinara sauce and ricotta cheese - a real treat.
The Sicilian Style Calamari Salad (pictured) was fresh and flavorful. Tasted as good as it looks. Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe, a bowl of thin spaghetti with a nice blend of romano and black pepper, went well with the bread and balsaic glaze served with the meal. Zuppa Di Pesce, mmmmmm, includes jumbo shrimp, lobster tail, little neck clams served in a tomato, herb and white wine broth. The pièce de ré·sis·tance is the bread pudding, made fresh on location, warm and delectasble for the bread pudding aficionado... One last note - we did not try the pizza but have heard good things... We will have to go back and try. Check out http://www.tonyds.net for info, location and menu...
