BOCA RATON SYMPHONIA’S APRIL 21ST CONCERT
FEATURES CONSTANTINE KITSOPOULOS AS GUEST CONDUCTOR AND ILANA SETAPEN AS VIOLIN SOLOIST
BOCA RATON, FL (March 26, 2013)—The Boca Raton Symphonia’s April 21st concert, the final one in this season’s Connoisseur Concert Series, will feature Constantine Kitsopoulos as Guest Conductor and Ilana Setapen as Violin Soloist. The program will include Dillon’s Amadeus ex Machina, Dvorak’s Violin Concerto in A minor, op. 53 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F major, op. 93.
The concert will begin at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Pre-Concert Conversation at 2:45, which is open to anyone with a ticket for the concert that day. The Pre-Concert Conversation will be an informative discussion about the music to be performed.

Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos has made a name for himself as a conductor whose musical experiences comfortably span the worlds of opera and symphony, where he conducts in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Royal Albert Hall, and musical theater, where he can be found leading orchestras on Broadway. Mr. Kitsopoulos is in his third season as music director of the Queens Symphony Orchestra and continues as general director of Chatham Opera, which he founded in 2005.
In addition to his orchestral and classical commitments, Mr. Kitsopoulos is much in demand as a theatre conductor, both on Broadway and nationwide. This past season, Mr. Kitsopoulos was conductor and music director for the Tony nominated musical "A Catered Affair." In 2007, he conducted the Tony nominated "Coram Boy" and the American Conservatory Theatre production of Kurt Weill's "Happy End," for which he recorded the cast album at Skywalker Ranch. Other musical theatre highlights include serving as Music Director and Principal Conductor of Baz Luhrmann's highly acclaimed production of Puccini's "La Bohème", conducting the new musical "Mambo Kings" in San Francisco in 2005, serving s Music Director of Frank Wildhorn's "Dracula" and "Les Misérables" and conducting Matthew Bourne's Broadway production of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake".
Since her solo orchestral debut at age 15 with the Amarillo Symphony, Ilana Setapen has been flourishing as a violinist with a powerful and original voice. She is hailed by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a violinist with “a sparkling sound” and “the kind of control that puts an audience completely at ease.” She is currently the Associate Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Assistant Concertmaster of the Grant Park Orchestra in Chicago.
Ms. Setapen has won top prizes in many competitions, such as the Irving M. Klein International String Competition, the Pasadena Showcase Competition, and the Kingsville International Competition. At the age of 21, she became concertmaster of the Riverside Philharmonic in Los Angeles. She has also held concertmaster positions with the Juilliard Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, the American Youth Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the USC Thornton Symphony.
